Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.

Weeks 5 & 6 were my favorites so far.  I am starting to feel like a real full-stack developer, and I can see how all the pieces are fitting together.  I feel like I could start one of the many app ideas I have had for some time and could build a viable product in a reasonable amount of time.  That feeling is pretty awesome.  Week 6 marked the start of the project phase, and now we get to build our own full-stack apps from scratch!

Light at the End

I'm starting to see the light at the end of the passage.  I'm getting pumped about going full-speed ahead into projects, resume' building, and job searching.  I've started to do a little market probing and have explored a few job posts.  Sometimes it feels surreal to be in the middle of this amazing transition, soon to be gainfully employed doing something I thoroughly enjoy.  It's actually happening!

Next Steps

Next week is solo week.  We will be working independently on a full-stack app and will have a slightly shorter daily schedule than normal.  I still plan to work 8+ hours most days, but it will be nice to have more asynchronous breaks and to be able to relax a little bit.  After that, we move into senior phase and BUILD MORE STUFF!  I'm very excited about that.  There are a few things I want to improve upon in the second half of the program.  I plan to write more blog posts, offer assistance to other students on toy problems, and work really hard on polishing my resume' and online presence in order to prepare for landing a job.

Forced Accountability (want free money?)

Writing blog posts tends to be a low priority task for me, and I don't generally get as many written as I would like to.  Because of this, I would like to create some forced accountability around this task.  Starting on July 17th, I want to write at least 4 blog posts per week.  If I fail to publish 4 posts in any of the weeks between July 17th and August 13th, I will send $10 to the first 3 people that call me out on it.  You can call me out by commenting on this blog post with something like "Hey, for the week ending on x date, you only published y blog posts.  Ship me the money!".  I would offer more, but I am an unemployed student :).
